PASTORAL COUNCIL – STEWARDSHIP – FINANCE MEETING
The Pastoral Council – Stewardship Committee and the Finance Council will meet in the Parish Hall this Monday, July 22nd at 6:30 PM.
MENTORING
We are looking for volunteers to begin a new mentoring group this Fall. The program consists of two parts that include group workshops and one-on-one time between the mentor and the mentee. The workshop sessions will be hosted this year by First Baptist Church and will be facilitated by the youth minister there, Brother Cody Thomas. As with the preceding programs, this one will be sponsored by Catholic Charities, Centenary Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, and Holy Family. There will be an informational meeting with time for Q. & A. on July 25th and August 1st from 6 PM to 7 PM at First Baptist Church. Please prayerfully consider becoming a mentor for a child in our community.
HOME MISSIONS COLLECTION
This weekend our Parish will take up the annual Collection for Black and Indian Missions. Our financial contribution helps support Catholic American Indian Communities on reservations, in rural areas and inner cities. The collection also supports African American schools and evangelization programs, particularly in the South. With open hearts let us unite ourselves with the love of Christ in supporting the Black and Indian Mission Collection. For more information, go to www.blackandindianmission.org. We will have only one offertory collection, so please be sure to have your donation in the proper envelope.
INSTALLATION OF PASTORAL COUNCIL
Make plans to attend the installation of our Pastoral Council next Sunday at the 8:30 AM Mass. Then join us for the Knights of Columbus Breakfast in the Parish Hall with the Members so you can get to meet and talk to those who will be helping Fr. Peter administer our Parish. It is important that all Parishioners know these members and feel comfortable talking with them.
Next Sunday, July 28th following the 8:30 AM Mass the Knights of Columbus will sponsor a Sunday Morning Breakfast Social. The Knights will be serving scrambled eggs, biscuits & sausage and lots of really great food!! Take advantage of this opportunity to meet and visit with fellow parishioners by coming to the Breakfast Social.
SPANISH MASS – SUNDAY, JULY 28TH
Our next Spanish Mass will be this Sunday, July 28th at 5:00 PM. Please feel free to spread the word around and reach out to as many of our Latino brothers and sisters as possible. Thanks for your help in this important outreach. Fr. Peter

HOST A CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL EXCHANGE STUDENT
Catholic volunteers, with or without children at home, are needed to house Catholic international high school students for the upcoming school year. The students speak English, are covered by medical insurance, have spending money for their personal expenses, and hope to arrive in AUGUST for enrollment in their new high school. For more information, please call Yvette at 800-941-3738 or ycoffman@sharesouthwest.org.
SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – JULY 20/21
Martha and Mary are the focus of this weekend’s “Gospel, which abounds with rich themes about hospitality, service and finding the right balance between action and prayerful attention to the Lord. Christians who are good stewards of their faith life realize that if they are too busy to enjoy peaceful, private time with the Lord, then something is out of balance in their spirituality. If we make time for Mass, but then carry on with our busy schedules without prayer, meditation and reflection, we are missing out. If we find ourselves anxious and harried by life’s routines, could it be a sign that something in our spiritual life needs some serious attention?
